Open Kitchen Renovation With Rift-Cut White Oak

Our Portfolio

Project Description

This Chapel Hill kitchen on Lakeshore Drive felt cut off from the living area. We took out the knee wall on the sink side, moved the refrigerator, and put in a wall oven and cooktop so the room could open up without wasting space.

We also added a farmhouse sink, replaced a window, and used rift-cut white oak for the openings. Venting the hood was the hard part because the kitchen sits in the middle of the house with a second floor above. Once we opened the walls we added extra support where the old work needed it.
