Project Description
This addition project, completed in the spring of 2018, included a master bathroom and an extravagant walk-in closet. Some of the features in the addition included heated tile floors, custom vanity cabinets with marble tops, frameless heavy glass doors, custom closet cabinets with drawers and shoe racks, three-piece crown moulding with dentil mould, a tiled walk-in shower with a niche and bench seat, LED recessed lighting, and a seamless transition to the existing bedroom.
Unique Characteristics of Project
When considering adding a bedroom to a home that is serviced by a septic tank, the very first step in the planning process is confirming that your septic system can handle the additional load. Septic systems are rated by the number of bedrooms a house has. In this instance, the homeowners’ property (Perc capability) would allow for the additional load but they were required to extend the lines of their septic field. While this did not create any issue, it did require an additional permit, extended the project duration, and increased the overall project cost.
