While it never seems to stop raining in Durham for more than a few days, we’ve been able to make quite a bit of progress on both of our Bald Head Island Home Remodel projects leading up to the holidays. We thought we would use this blog post to show a few of the before and after shots of one of these renovation jobs that is nearing completion to give you a sense of the transformation of this beautiful beach cottage on Bald Head Island.
If you’re not familiar with Bald Head Island, it’s a beautiful beach town in North Carolina that is only accessible by ferry and where vehicles are not allowed. Thankfully, the town makes certain exceptions for general contractors and other unique situations, which has allowed us to bring our vehicles onto the island.
This project is truly testing our organizational abilities. While there is one supply house on the Island itself, it has very limited resources. We are having to be extremely strategic about when and how much material we need to bring onto the barge each week from the neighboring area in Southport, NC.
Below are just a few of the before and after pictures of one of the two bald head home renovations that we’ve almost completed.
In the kitchen we replaced the countertops with granite, replaced the kitchen sink, added under cabinet LED lighting and installed an attractive tile backsplash.
Master Bathroom Remodel
The master bathroom received a full remodel including new countertops, new bathtub, new fixtures and a completely new tile surround and floor with a fresh coat of paint.
The master bedroom in this Bald Head Home Renovation didn’t require very much work aside from an updated paint job and some window replacement work.
The great room updates include new paint, new ceiling registers, a new ceiling fan and replacement of all of the windows which were deteriorating due to the salty, coastal air on Bald Head Island.
