Project Spotlight: Kitchen Renovation to Modernize Entire Home
Over at Prince & Sons, our summer has been hot and busy. We just wrapped up a full kitchen remodel in Durham, and are excited to show off a few pictures of this recent project. As is the case with most of the kitchen renovation projects we do, this job started out with a kitchen that hadn’t been updated in quite some time.
Efficient Kitchen Renovation
This particular remodel is a great example of a project that can give homeowners the look and feel that they’re looking for, without sinking exorbitant cost in new cabinets and installation fees. Thanks to the original quality built cabinets, we were able to reuse the boxes and doors which naturally saved time and money. It is important to consider all options when planning a remodel. If the kitchen layout is suitable and the material is sufficient in quality, such as this one, the logical solution is to repaint and utilize your funds elsewhere in the project.
Some people think of wooden cabinets as a dated look, but with a new coat of paint, soft close hinges, and new cabinet hardware, it’s hard to even recognize that these cabinets are original to the house. This goes to show that it always pays to spend a little more upfront and purchase high quality, wooden constructed cabinets. In the event that you ever want to change the look, all you have to do is break out the paint. Unfortunately, many of the particle board cabinets sold at the big box stores are not able to be repainted, as they delaminate and will not stand the test of time like wood cabinets do.
Run Down of Kitchen Remodeling Process
This kitchen renovation consisted of a variety of upgrades that we think really brought the look and feel of this kitchen into the 21st century. A few of the ways that we modernized this kitchen included:
- Painted the kitchen cabinet boxes and doors white
- Installed soft close hinges
- Installed new granite countertops
- Installed a black hexagonal mosaic backsplash
- Installed a stainless steel farmhouse sink
- Installed a Chef’s faucet
- Installed a new vinyl plank floor for added durability
